about the mysterious webmaster

hello! i'm the webmaster. you can call me zach, thxrgism, or variations thereof. i use he/they pronouns.

i do not want to post an image of myself but if you wish to have a visualization of me, picture this.

i have a wide variety of hobbies i sporadically rotate through on a relatively irregular basis, including drawing, writing, reading, playing guitar, listening to music, hiking, cooking, and web design.

i'm also a big fan of anime, manga, and video games, particularly RPG maker indie games. you can often find me spam-reblogging various things on my Tumblr

i'm a big music enjoyer. i like checking out new music, and i'm not very scrupulous about genre and such as long as i find it interesting and/or enjoyable. i have a list of albums i am slowly getting through on my Rate Your Music page , however i tend to take my time before i review and rate things because i want to make sure i get as thorough as possible.

i think that the indie/small web space has a lot of potential for creativity, diversity, and overall creating online community spaces that value individuals over bottom-line profit. i created my website partially out of the urge to collaborate within that space and also just because making a website is really fun. seriously, you can put basically anything on here. in addition, i've come to believe that there is some benefit to sometimes having a slower structure to experiencing the internet. while efficiency has its benefits, i think sometimes slowing down can work as a respite in an era where being constantly tuned-in has become a social expectation. think "quiet quitting". i don't have any memory of the internet of the 90s and very little of the 2000s, but i do think that even in 2024 a lot of people have come to contemplate the question of what "being online" means or could come to mean, particularly after several years being cooped up inside on screens due to the covid-19 pandemic. i don't think the answer has to be retro-inspired personal websites, or really anything in particular. in fact, i hope it isn't, because i think people can think up way more interesting answers to that question. however, i hope that netizens overall can start working together not just to replicate the past, but to create a better future on the web. personally i will say that this website itself may grow and change as i try to answer that question too.

huh?

you really thought you could find all the secret rats on this site that easily? nah. at least try using your keyboard or something.
